Introduction to myself

My name is Muhammad Fadzil. I am a second year student from Mechanical Engineering. An introduction about me would be someone who is very simple, cheerful and shy at times. Some of my interests and hobbies include soccer, cars and motorcycles as well. I used to be active in soccer during my primary and secondary school days where I can play soccer almost every day without complaining. As years goes by, I have lesser and lesser time to play soccer due to the higher level of commitment involved in my tertiary studies. All I can manage to do now is basically watching soccer games which are being played on the television. Apart from soccer, I also enjoy learning about bikes and cars just as much as I enjoy riding and driving them. My sources of gaining knowledge and updating about bikes and cars come from the internet, friends and also the vehicle mechanics. It is fascinating to see how the advances in technology have resulted to the more and more sophisticated machines which have been produced today in the market.
Probably the question on what was I doing out there before I started my education in NUS might already strike some of your mind. Well, after graduating from my polytechnics studies in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I went on to serve the National Service for 2 years. I was in the Singapore Police Force where I was posted to the Police MRT Unit. The unit’s job is to deter and detect potential terrorist attacks in the public transport network system. Being posted to the Police MRT Unit has allowed me to gain adequate policing knowledge and also incident management techniques which is an added advantage. Not everyone will have the chance to do so.
After serving two years of national service, here I am, doing my degree studies in NUS. During this semester, I am required to read the module EG1471 English for Academic Purposes. I certainly hope I can improve my English and learn about the various writing skills. This will be a useful tool throughout my studies in NUS and also at the same time preparing myself for the working industry in the future. This module is very important as it is a lifetime skill which you will make use of everyday in your life. In fact, English is an international language being used as a form of communication. Finally, I expect myself to be more confident in my writing at the end of the semester after completing this module.
